Oil Leak

After getting the car back from the garage with the new engine fitted, I noticed an old oil leak that I had never managed to fix on the 2.0L 16v 9a block.
It was coming from the sump, so I  cleaned it up and found it was coming from the camshaft belt side.
Pulling the sump off, I noticed the crank end plate bolts were just about hand-tight and threaded from over-tightening.

With only myself to blame for that, I decided to fix it so I could not strip the thread again by fitting 6mm stainless helicoils inserts to all six holes. I also decided to use a torque wrench that could do the required 20nm of torque instead of my usual, hand tight, with my Snap-on 1/4 inch drive.

While under the car, I cleaned the oil pick-up strainer and the sump. There were loads of sealant bits which had come off and were sucked up into the strainer, as I used too much the last time I took the sump off and put it back on badly.

I replaced the old sump with a high-capacity baffled sump from TSR Performance.
